Noodleini Race Recap

I ran the Noodleini 15k on November 25, 2012.

I had wanted to run this race last year, but wasn’t able to when I was hurt. So I was pretty excited to run this year. Mainly because you got a gift certificate for a free meal at Noodles and Company. Score.

Although, I wasn’t planning on getting sick the two days leading up to the race and I didn’t plan on it snowing either. Boo! I went Black Friday shopping and beat some of the crowds by going at 8:30 Friday morning. But the stores were still warm and busy. That afternoon I didn’t feel well at all and came home and just napped the rest of the day. I woke up Saturday and just laid around and napped more. Surprisingly I felt really good after eating some saltines and managed to get in the shower and decided to go pick up my race packet and shirt. I went over to my friend Tom’s house and hung out with him and my two cousins that night. I felt better and better as the night went on.

I woke up on Sunday to new fallen snow. Crap. I had never ran in snow and I was still worried about my cold/sick/whatever flu I had. My dad came with me to the race in case I couldn’t finish.

The race started at 8am and I was hoping to finish in 1:25-ish. Once I started running though, I knew that wasn’t happening. The roads were still a little snowy/slippery and my body wasn’t fully recovered.

I felt like this race went on forever! It was pretty boring, no crowds. The roads were open to traffic and it was awkward when we had to run along a road where people were trying to get to church. The whole time I just really wanted to be done. Some of the residential areas we ran through were pretty slick and I had to slow down a lot and run around the road to find clear spots. It was more of a mentally exhausting race than anything. Keeping my footing and just keeping my body going.

I crossed the finish line in 1:29:28 and found my dad. I was very glad to be done with the race. Ryan’s mom, his sister Trisha and her husband Jesse and his other sister Robin did the 5k. We talked with them and then went home.

Being the last race of the year, I would have liked to end on a better note. But I’m glad I ran and was able to run after being sick.

4 Months

Alright, so I took a 4-month blogging hiatus. Whoops. Don’t ask me what happened, because I really don’t know. Life happened I guess. Let’s catch up quickly.

I met the most wonderful man in July and we started dating in August. This is the best relationship I have been in and I could not be happier. He is supportive, loving, fun, and just amazing all around.

Ryan and I at his sister's wedding

Ran in the Cheesehead Half Marathon and (of course) it was a hot race. I took 2nd in my age group. Woot Woot!

2nd in Age Group!!

2nd in Age Group!!

Continued to train for the Fox Cities Marathon.
Started school at Fox Valley Tech in the Office Assistant Program.
Got a new (reliable) car!
Caught up with friends from college.

Oh, this was the month of the marathon. I’ll do a race recap, but yeah, I survived and it went really well!

First Marathon in the books!

First Marathon in the books!

I guess that was the big thing in September. Plugged away at school and hung out with Ryan and his friends.

Skipped out on the St. Joe’s 5k because of a downpour.
Started running inside.
More school.

Ran in the Festival Foods Turkey Trot. Did better than expected! Race report to come.
Ran in the Noodleini 15k. Not a good race. Race report to come.
Turned 24. Old woman here.
Started an Internship at a graphic design company.
Ate my way through three Thanksgivings.

Christmas presents bought.
Finished school with flying colors.
Celebrated Ryan’s birthday.
Still running inside.
Started making running goals for next year. Look the f**k out 2013.

So yes, that is the last 4 months in a very quick nutshell. I’ll catch up on race reports and do some other update posts. But I really want to get back into blogging. I really miss it.

Project 365: Days 59-65

This year is just flying by. I can’t believe it’s the middle of March already!

February 28

I haven’t been a size 9 in shoes since probably 7th grade! But these fit like a glove! I was so excited.

I missed taking a picture on Leap Day. Epic fail.

March 1

This book is awesome. I can’t wait for the movie.

March 2

I threw out some moldy bread for animals to eat and some animal must have took the bread and put it on the fence post, because I just threw it out the door! Haha.

March 3

I hope this is the last snow we see until December.

March 4

My sister wants a yellow mustang (she’s 16). So I had to take a picture of this one for her.

March 5

YEEEEAAAHHH! Happy Birthday Oreo!!

March 5

March 6

This is a mustang that was parked at work.

Project 365: Days 55-58

Where has February gone?! I can’t believe it’s almost March. We haven’t had much of a winter, maybe that’s why the year has been going by so fast.

Here are days 55-58

February 24

We bought Platypus this Batman costume at Build-A-Bear workshop one day. I was wearing my Batman shirt, so we figured we should take a picture seeing we matched.

February 25

We found a Flea Market in Appleton on Saturday and I spotted this little bear. I thought it was a twin to my bear I had when I was growing up. So I bought him because we was only $1.

February 25

But he wasn’t his twin. Teddy is on the left and the new Bear is on the right. Teddy has seen a lot of love and is quite a bit skinnier than the new Bear. But they can certainly be friends! πŸ™‚

February 25

This was just our day to find stuffed animals. This monkey was laying on the sidewalk. Barnaby had to rescue it. So now he is on a shelf of other rescued animals we’ve found.

February 26

A mushed banana at the Kmart parking lot.

February 26

Waupaca Kmart. No wrestling figures here.

February 27

I was talking to my mom on the phone in the infant department at work and I turned down an aisle and these ducks were just sitting there. They looked so cute, I had to take a picture.

Have you ever rescued an abandoned stuffed animal?

Project 365: Days 40-44

I can’t believe that it is almost the middle of February already. This year has been going by crazy fast. We actually got a decent amount of snow yesterday, so I guess it’s winter now. Hopefully it won’t last too long though.

Here are days 40-44

February 9

We went to the School House store in Green Bay and this was written by the pens, Hufflepuff!

February 9

I started organizing my paper clutter. I’ve never found a good system for me, but I couldn’t stand the mess anymore, so I just needed to sort EVERYTHING! This is aaaalllll the stuff that needed sorting.

February 9

My new hanging folders.

February 9

And here is my stuff all sorted. It’s crazy how much stuff one person an accumulate in about fours years.

February 9

And 30 Rock accompanied me on NetFlix while I was sorting.

February 10

And this day I organized my side of the office. My desk was full of stuff and so was the floor. But it looks great now! I found these frogs that I bought on ourΒ  big summer trip, and I thought it would be cool if they were hopping up the side of my bookshelf πŸ™‚

February 11

We frequent Toys r Us probably more than anyone who actually has kids. Just in the past four days, I’ve been there three times. This fry massacre was in the parking lot.

February 12

This was a huge copy of the book Stellaluna that I found at Half Price Books. It was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

February 13

I’m buying glass that is really inexpensive at Goodwill and then taking yarn and wrapping them with it. Then I want to make these to put inside. My boyfriend does a Flea Market in the summer, and I would like to sell them there.

Have you done any organizing this year?

Are you crafty?

–Usually no, but I’m trying to get my creative and crafty. Seeing I haven’t been getting many hours at work, I’ve been trying to keep myself busy.

Project 365: Day 37

I have many days off in the upcoming future. Walmart has decided to try and work with as little staff as possible. So I have barely been getting scheduled. I need to find a new job. On my days off, I have decided that I want to go for walks. Nice days I want to walk to the library or if it is bad weather or cold, I would like to go mall walking. Channeling the old lady in me πŸ˜›

On Monday I took another walk to the library. Here are my pictures from that day.

February 6

Ahh, the perfect walking weather.

February 6

Looking at the water. I’m not quite sure what body of water that is.

February 6

This is a historical landmark in Neenah. The Octagon House.

February 6

More water by the library.

February 6

Made it again to the library in only a sweatshirt. Awesome weather.

February 6

I was planning on walking to Walmart after the library. But when I left, it had gotten windy and colder 😦 So I stopped at my house after the library and picked up my car and drove instead.

February 6

And I made a pit stop at Kohls.

February 6

I made the mistake of wandering over to the kitchen supplies and I decided that I wanted everything there, since I have been dabbling in cooking lately.

Has the weather been warmer than usually where you live this winter?

If you could spend money redoing a room in your house, which room would you redo?

Project 365: Day 31

Last day of the month! One month down, 11 to go. I’m having so much fun with this project. I find myself taking pictures when I normally wouldn’t take pictures. Like today, I walked to the library because it was a beautiful, almost spring-like day, and I took pictures the whole way there. Also, I find that, even though I would much rather use my old point-and-shoot camera, it’s much easier to use my phone because I have it with me always.

January 31

The start of my walk. A view down the street. Notice all the snow melting! It was almost 50 degrees today.

January 31

Train yard that is right by our house. All night you can hear the cars banging around. I’m used to it now, but when I first moved here, it was a little scary.

January 31

This is the Chinese buffet that my boyfriend took me to before we started dating.

January 31

I always want to go here in the summer! It looks so cute and somewhat old fashioned inside. But we always forget and go to Dairy Queen instead.

January 31

Yeah, that’s right, Neenah has a Statue of Liberty. I’m not quite sure why.

January 31

I don’t know who this is a statue of, but he looked very warm in his hat and scarf.

January 31

The park that is right by the library. I came here over the summer and took pictures of all the tulips. And it’s right by the water.

January 31

You have reached your destination. Library! It was rather busy for a Tuesday afternoon.

January 31

Yes, this is a cliche bathroom shot. But it’s pretty awesome that I wore only a sweatshirt on a walk in JANUARY in WISCONSIN!

January 31

I had to stop at Walgreens on my way home. I had a coupon for contact solution.

January 31

On the walk home. I hate this part of winter. Yucky slush.

Project 365: Days 17-20

It has been COLD here in Wisconsin these past few days! But, despite that, I’ve been having some pretty decent days. I have been using my camera phone for most of the pictures, because I have that with me all the time and I seem to remember to take pictures with it more often. I think this is the first phone I have taken a significant amount of pictures with, and I’ve had it for a year already!

Here are days 17-20!

January 17

What?! Flip-Flops in January! This is crazy.

January 17

This made my day! I had been wanting a slow cooker for a while now and I was going to buy one in February after taxes. So I went to the mall on Tuesday for some other things when I suddenly remembered I had a JCPenny gift card! And they have kitchen items there! I found my slow cooker for $25 and I still had $2 left on my card! I was the happiest girl leaving the mall that day πŸ™‚

January 18

After getting the slow cooker the day before, I wanted to gather the recipes that I had been finding online. This is pretty much what I did after I got home from work.

January 19

This was at 7:30am and this was the high for the day. It was FREEZING!

January 20

Just an ordinary mail box at Tru-Value. But inside…

January 20

…there was a little dragon! I laughed out loud when I saw it.

Project 365- Days 10-12

These past couple of days have been pretty easy getting a picture. Some days are hard, especially when I just get up and go to work. But then there are days, like yesterday, where I was able to take a ton of pictures (partly because of my sisters Confirmation).

Here are days 10-12

January 10

This is Toady. My boyfriend bought him after Halloween to display in our yard next year. He wanted to keep him out, and I said that he could, but he had to be festive. So he put the Santa beard and hat on him and he was allowed during Christmas.

January 11

My family’s dog, Penny. She is a dachshund and we have had her for 5 years. We got her when she was a puppy, and she still thinks she is one πŸ˜›

January 11

Molly, my family’s other dachshund. She is 11 years old and much wiser than Penny.

January 11

My sister got Confirmed! Yay! I was her sponsor and it was a great experience.

January 12

Oh man, more snow. We shall see how long this lasts. My mom said she was able to hang clothes out to dry yesterday because it was almost 50! And now today we have snow! Weird Wisconsin weather.

Project 365- Days 5-6

My day-to-day life is not very exciting, so it’s challenging to get some interesting pictures. Hopefully as the year goes on, it gets a little easier πŸ™‚

Here are days 5 and 6!

January 5th

This is Tabby, my tablet that I got for my birthday/Christmas. I use this for all my blog stalking, Facebook creeping, and Netflix watching. We were apart quite a bit during Christmas and New Years, but now we are best buds again.

January 6th

I took this photo this at 8:00am THIS MORNING! It’s almost 40 degrees outside in January! This has been a crazy Wisconsin winter. We have barely had any snow. All the snow from my picture on day one is now gone.

I will probably have more pictures on Monday! Happy weekend!
